Projected Healthcare Pricing through a Simple App

Everyone gets sick. It’s just a fact of life and it’s going to happen sooner or later. With an estimated 49.9 million uninsured Americans, even attempting to get treatment for an illness can turn into such a financial blunder that many will just “wait it out” and “hope to get better on their own.” What if you knew how much it should cost for certain procedures in advance though? One of the main reasons people do not seek healthcare is because they have no idea what it may cost and have no way of truly finding out until they get the bill.

Well, now there’s an app for that! The app works on both iPhones and Androids, as well as having a web-based version.

The Healthcare Blue Book allows you to see the fairest prices for different healthcare services. The free guide compiles information from healthcare providers in your area. It then puts together the most common and fair prices for hundreds of different medical and dental services. For simple checkups to long-term procedures and care, The Healthcare Blue Book can give you a highly educated estimate on how much you will pay for a service. It even tells you where it will cost more, for example, in a doctor’s office versus a hospital. And even if you are lucky enough to be insured, you can figure out the prices of all those non-covered services.

And the app gets even better. If you are utilizing the web version, you can even print out a “binding price estimate” agreement. This will allow you to have something to show the healthcare provider to help keep them from overcharging you. It’s a good idea to ask any doctor or dentist you call though what their prices are upfront. Once you have a good idea of what you are in for price-wise by using the Healthcare Blue Book, then you will be able to confidently discuss it with the provider and know you are getting a fair price.

Have you used The Healthcare Blue Book? Did it help you find fair pricing on healthcare? Take a moment to comment and share your experience!

Thanks for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor were just preparing to do some research on this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I’m very glad to see such excellent information being shared freely out there.
